T

Three skills practiced at our meetings

1. Table Topics : (Approx. 2min.) “Table Topics Master”, before the day of the meeting, prepares questions about such topics as hobbies, current news items, etc. At the meeting, The Table Topics Master calls on members to make an impromptu speech about a question or topic. This allows the speaker the opportunity to verbally express an idea or opinion about a variety of topics.(All performed in English and non-Japanese may deliver speeches in Japanese.

2. Prepared Speech : (Approx. 7min.)Members prepare and make speeches based on personal experiences or expressing their opinions. Each speech project is according to  specifications described in Toastmasters International’s “Communication and Leadership” manual. (All performed in English and non-Japanese may deliver speeches in Japanese)

3. Speech Evaluation : (Approx. 3min)A Toastmasters club has no appointed instructor. Members provide feedback to one another. Evaluators (who review speeches) analyze a speaker’s speech, comment on the good points  of the speech and offer suggestions for improvement. Making evaluations give evaluators the opportunity to analytically listen to other people’s speeches. (All performed in English and non-Japanese may deliver speeches in Japanese))
